East Falls, located adjacent to Roxborough, Manayunk and Fairmount Park, runs along a stretch of Ridge Avenue that is only a few miles long, along the banks of the Schuylkill River and extends northeast to Wissahickon Avenue. East Falls overlooks Fairmount Park the world’s largest landscaped city park along Kelly Drive, and provides easy access to Center City and surrounding suburbs, via several major roadways and public transportation (bus and rail).

The Falls Bridge connects East Falls and West Fairmount Park.  MLK drive on the west side of Fairmount Park leads you to historic Memorial Hall (built in 1876 for the centennial exhibition) and today the new home of The Please Touch Museum, the nation’s premier children’s museum for over 30 years.  At the corner of 34th & Girard is the Philadelphia Zoo, America’s first Zoo located on a 42-acre Victorian garden and home to more than 1,300 animals, many of them rare and endangered.

East Falls is home to a number of renown individuals and locations including: The Legacy Youth Tennis Center (formerly Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center on 9+acres); the childhood home of Grace Kelly, actress and Princess of Monaco; as well as home to former U.S. Senator Arlen Specter, Jewish studies scholar Chaim Potok, former Pennsylvania Governor and Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell, and world renowned magician Brandon Farnin. Ravenhill Academy, a Catholic girls school run by the Mothers of the Assumption from the Philippines, attended by Grace Kelly and former President of the Philippines Corazon Aquino, closed in 1977, and is now part of Philadelphia University’s campus. Historic Laurel Hill Cemetery, second major garden/rural cemetery in the US was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998, and offers spectacular vistas with thousands of 19th & 20th century marble and granite monuments on 74 acres perched above the Schuylkill River serving as final resting place of numerous prominent Philadelphians and other notables.

East Falls provides a variety of housing styles from 2 & 3-story twins and rowhomes, some with open front porches to historically significant single family homes, as well as new construction condominiums and townhouses.

Looking for an educational option? The Mifflin School is a K-8 grade school by the School District of Philadelphia, who currently underwent an $8M refurbishment project, and is part of the Bright Futures project. William Penn Charter School (co-ed), a 44 acre campus, is a private Pre-K through 12 day school founded by William Penn in 1689 and has called East Falls home since 1925. Philadelphia University, formerly known as Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, is a 100-acre private university campus founded in 1884. Currently with 3,100 part & full-time students, the university offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Drexel University’s College of Medicine main campus is located here after it took over MCP-Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 2003. It is the consolidation of two medical schools, each with over one hundred and fifty years of history, Hahnemann Medical College, founded in 1848, and Woman's Medical College, founded in 1850 and later the Medical College of Pennsylvania. And finally, St. Bridget’s Catholic Elementary School, in East Falls since 1853, was founded by Saint John Neumann, is merging with Holy Child, the Holy Family Parish, to become the new school, St. Blaise Regional Catholic School.
